Upgrading your computer is not as difficult as some people may think. You just have to take it one step at a time. Even the most difficult upgrades can be made simple when it is broken down into smaller steps. There are a few simple upgrades you can do that will drastically improve your computer’s performance. One of the most common ones is upgrading the memory or RAM on your motherboard. Here is how:

1. Make sure you check your system’s documentation or look up the specifications online to make sure you get the correct memory modules for your planned upgrade.

2.Power down the computer and disconnect the power cable from the back of the system.

3.Depending on how your computer is designed, lay your computer down so the access panel is facing up. Open the access panel to expose the components.

4.Locate the memory slots (long brackets inside the case with “holders” on either side of each slot)

5.Remove current memory modules by flipping the levers on either side of each stick of memory.

6.Line up the notch on your new memory with the slots. Press the modules into the slot straight down. The white levers should snap into the side notches to secure the memory in place.

7.Connect power and test your system. If you get an error code, consult your documentation. In most cases, these errors are due to the Memory not being seated in the slots properly. Remove and reseat the memory and test again.
